Homemade Taco Seasoning

Hello Friends! Today I’m adding another favorite to our pantry staples — homemade taco seasoning. With the busy school year in full swing, it helps to have dependable, ready-to-go blends on hand. This one is packed with flavor, super simple to make, and far more economical (and healthier!) than store-bought packets.

We use this seasoning most often for taco night (obviously 😉), but it’s just as delicious in our Homestead Chili or a warm pot of taco soup. Once mixed, it stores beautifully in a mason jar for months — making dinner prep a breeze.

You’ll find the downloadable recipe at the bottom of the post, and I’ve included a few ways we use this mix below.

This flavorful blend is incredibly versatile! Here are just a few ways we use it on the homestead:

  • Taco Night – Mix 2 tablespoons of seasoning with ¼ cup of water and 1 pound of cooked ground beef or turkey.

  • Homestead Chili – Add a tablespoon or two for extra warmth and depth.

  • Taco Soup – Stir into a simmering pot of beans, tomatoes, and corn for that classic Tex-Mex flavor.

  • Seasoned Rice or Potatoes – Sprinkle over roasted potatoes or mix into rice for a quick and tasty side.
