Hello Friends! I have an easy recipe for you today- Sausage Cheese Balls. These balls are a perfect complement to a Saturday Brunch or a goto option for a busy school night when you need something quick. It is also adaptable to what you have on hand.
You will find a printable recipe at the bottom of this post.
What you will need-
Ingredients:
1 pound ground sausage – I stick with a breakfast sausage because some members of my family don’t appreciate heat.
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese – I have found that most shredded cheese works well, except for mozzarella. For this recipe I used a Mexican Blend because that’s what I had on hand. Use what you have😉
2/3 cup flour (we use King Arthur Measure for Measure gluten free flour but a regular all purpose flour works wonderfully)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
In a large mixing bowl combine the ground sausage (uncooked), shredded cheddar cheese, and flour. I use my hands to make sure the flour and cheese is fully incorporated into the sausage.
Once throughly combined, form 1-inch balls. I roll out my balls with washed but slightly damp hands. The dampness helps the sausage not to stick to your finger.
Place the formed sausage cheese balls on a baking sheet about 1 inch apart. I like to use a silicone baking mat on top of the sheet to prevent sticking. Aluminum foil would also work and give your balls a little more crunch 😊
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Move the sausage cheese balls from the baking sheet to paper towel lined plate to absorb any excess grease. Enjoy warm!
Makes about 2 dozen balls.
