14 Autumn Frugal Living Ideas

Hello Friends! I want to share a few ideas, okay 14 ideas, for frugal living during the Autumn season. Some of these may work for you and some may not.

Take what works and leave the rest 😉

Frugal Living Idea #1

Buy seconds apples from a farmer’s market. These apples are sold a little bruised or a little spotted but are still delicious. They make wonderful applesauce, apple crisp, or apple butter.

Frugal Living Idea #2

Use leftover vegetable scraps to make a vegetable stock or chicken broth. Freeze scraps in a freezer bag until you accumulate enough for a recipe.

Frugal Living Idea #3

Do you have a pumpkin sitting on your front porch? Process it into pumpkin purée or pumpkin butter.

Frugal Living Idea #4

Do you have a turkey carcass from Thanksgiving? Make a bone broth.

Frugal Living Idea #5

Light a fire in the fireplace on chilly winter nights as an alternative to raising the thermostat.

Frugal Living Idea #6

Entertain yourself at home with a game night or a bone fire with friends.

Frugal Living Idea #7

Stock up on sale items around Thanksgiving when grocery store sales are plentiful. Use what you stock up on to help lower your winter food budget.

Frugal Living Idea #8

Visit your local library. In addition to books most libraries have program activities for children and adults.

Make a budget for the holidays and stick to it.

Frugal Living Idea #10

Dress up meals with cloth napkins and save on paper products.

Frugal Living Idea #11

When cooking dinner make a double batch and freeze one for those unexpected crazy nights that are bound to happen.

Frugal Living Idea #12

Same with desserts, make a double batch and freeze some for later. Cookies freeze well for those moments you need something sweet and are short on time.

Frugal Living Idea #13

When decorating your home for the upcoming holiday season use what you already have on hand. Most of us have more than enough decorations already.

Frugal Living Idea #14

Decorate with nature. Pinecones and greenery from your backyard can make a beautifully eloquent statement and they are free.
