Hello friends, and welcome back to another Frugal Living Friday here at ASW Homestead!
After all the shopping days—Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday—comes one of my favorites: Giving Tuesday. It’s a day that gently pulls our attention away from buying and back toward blessing.
In a world that moves fast and spends even faster, Giving Tuesday is a quiet invitation to pause and ask: How can I use what I have to make a difference?
You don’t have to give a large amount or support a national organization to make an impact. Sometimes, the smallest, most thoughtful acts of generosity reach the deepest places—whether it’s helping a neighbor, supporting a local nonprofit, or simply offering your time to someone who needs it.
Generosity isn’t limited to writing a check. On the homestead, giving often looks like sharing a dozen eggs, a jar of homemade jam, or a meal with a friend who’s going through a hard time.
Think about what’s already in your hands. Maybe it’s your time, your talents, or your ability to listen. When we give from what we already have, it reminds us that abundance isn’t measured by money—it’s measured by gratitude and willingness.

Before Giving Tuesday arrives, take a moment to reflect and pray over where you might give this year. Choose causes or people that align with your values and God’s prompting on your heart.
A few ideas to inspire you:
Support a local food pantry or homeless outreach program.
Donate gently used clothes, coats, or blankets.
Give toward a mission or ministry you believe in.
Offer to cover someone’s groceries, gas, or a small bill anonymously.
Volunteer your time with a church or community project.
Intentional giving means your generosity isn’t impulsive—it’s thoughtful, purposeful, and rooted in love.

One of the best lessons we can teach our children is that giving feels better than getting. Gather your family around the table this weekend and talk about how you might give together.
Let your kids help choose the cause or the family you’ll bless. Have them decorate a card, bake cookies, or deliver the donation with you. When generosity becomes a family tradition, it shapes hearts that see giving as joy, not obligation.
On our homestead, we try to live this out in everyday ways—whether it’s helping a neighbor, sharing from our pantry, or serving as a family at church. If you’d like to see more of how we bring purpose into family life, I shared more about that in this post:
Giving Tuesday may happen once a year, but a spirit of generosity can shape the way we live every day. When we give with open hands and grateful hearts, we reflect God’s goodness to the world around us.
No matter your budget or your season of life, you have something to give—and that something might mean more than you’ll ever realize.
So as you wrap up your Thanksgiving leftovers and peek at those Black Friday deals, pause for a moment and remember: the best gifts aren’t the ones we buy—they’re the ones we give.
“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion.” – 2 Corinthians 9:11

Around here, we’re learning as we go—one season, one project, and one lesson at a time. I’m glad you’re along for the journey.
