Hello friends, and welcome back to Frugal Living Friday! 🍂
Fall is one of my favorite seasons to cozy up our home. The crisp mornings, changing leaves, and shorter days make me want to bring all the warmth and color inside. But if you’ve been down the seasonal décor aisle lately, you know those pretty wreaths, pillows, and centerpieces can add up fast!
Here at ASW Homestead, we believe beauty doesn’t have to break the budget. With a little creativity, resourcefulness, and maybe a walk in the woods or a trip to the thrift store, you can create a home that feels every bit as festive as those magazine spreads—without spending a fortune. The best part? Many of these projects can be done with your family, turning decorating into memory-making.
Here are a few of my favorite simple and inexpensive ways to decorate for fall:
A handmade pinecone wreath is a welcoming way to dress up your front door. Instead of spending $50–$100, gather pinecones with your kids or grandkids, then glue them to a Styrofoam wreath form. Add a ribbon, and you’ve got a rustic, budget-friendly piece that will greet your guests with charm.

Pressed leaves make beautiful, natural art. Simply tuck colorful leaves between wax paper in a heavy book overnight, then frame them against scrapbook paper in fall tones. It’s a nearly free way to bring autumn’s beauty indoors.

Sometimes a few small swaps make the biggest difference. Change out throw pillows, add a cozy blanket, or repurpose vases with dried grasses. Even just layering in autumnal colors—burnt orange, bronze, or deep red—can shift your home into a fall mood.

Whether you’re decorating with a $100 budget or just $10, remember this: imagination is your best resource. Fall beauty can come from pinecones you gathered on a walk, a thrifted picture frame, or a handmade pillow cover. These little touches not only save money, they tell a story and make your home uniquely yours.
Here at ASW Homestead, we’ve found that simple, homemade décor often carries more meaning than anything bought in a store. 🍁
I’d love to know: How do you decorate for fall on a budget? Do you DIY, thrift, or pull from nature? Share your favorite tips in the comments—I’d love to try some of your ideas this season!

Around here, we’re learning as we go—one season, one project, and one lesson at a time. I’m glad you’re along for the journey.
